Shell Harbor is located just off of Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico on the south shore of the mouth of the Little Manatee River.

Shell Harbor is very centrally located, only less than 20 minutes from Tampa, St. Petersburg, Bradenton, Sun City, Brandon, and a further 10 minutes away are Sarasota and Clearwater.

There are many national builders which have chosen the Ruskin area because of its projected growth. Tampa, Bradenton, and St. Petersburg are all expanding into this area.
